Your Heart

You have been here all along-

I have searched for you,
like one who searches for their shoes,
Only to find them on their feet.

You have never left me,
I have continued to stumble and stray,
And yet you love me.

Your heart exemplifies hearts,
You had a heart first- without you,
Mine wouldn't beat.

I have tried to figure You out-
And yet the deeper I go,
The more expansive You get!

To me Your love is like;

A calm summer rain, the fat wet droplets soothing my tired burnt skin.
A long nights rest, after a weary day.

Your love smells like a warm cotton towel that has been hung out on the line-
Soft and billowy, fresh and new.

There aren't enough words to describe You.
My vocabulary is frightful.
I could study for days, weeks, months, and years
And NEVER have enough to say about you.

So in my silence I feel for You.
I pray that my heart would swell with Your praises,
That my blood would quicken
with the anticipation of Your return,

That My spirit would intercourse with Yours.

In my silence
I train my body to worship you,

So that when I do audibly praise You-

I might someday
Be able to express
How grateful I am,

That You had heart

enough

to

give

me

mine.
